Taught a lot of new crocheters today as well as several experienced ones. A huge turnout in Alton for classes in everything from knit and crochet, to embroidery and basket weaving, and tons more. Had a great time meeting new people and reconnecting with previous students. Great job, ladies!
Say all the squares donated for Warm Up America. Had a lovely Saturday afternoon with old friends Diane and Laura, and new friends Ann and Amanda. Thanks for all your hard work, ladies. And if you’re thinking you missed out on all the fun today, never fear, we’re going to do this again. There are more squares to join. Keep those squares coming! We’ll keep scheduling joining parties as long as there are squatted to join.
UPDATE:There will be a joining party on Saturday, 1/25/14, from 1-4 at the Edwardsville Michaels. We will be joining the squares that have been donated so far. No experience necessary, I’ll teach you how. The event is free (because I’m going to put you to work!). We will continue to accept squares and will have other joining parties as needed. Squares can be dropped off with an employee at Michaels, or left in the classroom.
Remember, squares should be 7″x9″ in any stitch you want.

It’s that time of year, again. Time to get your needles and hooks working for charity. We had a great demo Saturday to kick off the Warm Up America Charity Drive. I spoke with lots of knitters and crocheters who were excited to learn about the drive and what they can do to help. We will be collecting rectangles for the cause through December. So, get out your stash, grab some washable yarn, and start making 7″x9″ rectangles. Any stitch, any color! We will stitch all of our squares together and make as many afghans as we can to donate to a local charity.
Tell your friends, grab some yarn, and drop your finished squares off at Michaels in Edwardsville!

This is a great video from the staff of WEBS. It shows many different skill levels and many different knitting styles.
